We are giving away 10 websites to social organisations in the Balearics: how to vote and how to help your organisation

Teix Web Studio is giving the design and development of a website to 10 non-profit organisations in the Balearic Islands, chosen by public vote. How to vote, how to gather support and what a charity's website needs.

Teix Web Studio, the web design studio in Palma, is giving the design and development of a website to 10 non-profit organisations in the Balearic Islands. The public chooses them by voting at teixweb.com/navidad, from 28 October to 24 December 2026. This guide explains how to vote, how an organisation can gather more support honestly, and what the website of a social organisation needs in order to really help.

What we are giving and why

Each of the 10 chosen organisations receives the design and development of its website, with the domain and hosting free for as long as the organisation remains active. Maintenance is free too, for good: we will never charge them for it. The websites will be delivered in March 2027.

Jero Shannon, founder of Teix, puts it like this: “This year, instead of giving business gifts, we want to give what we do best to the people who look after others all year round. And we want people to be the ones who choose.”

That is why there is no jury, just an open vote. The organisations that more people know and back are the ones that win the website, and along the way many people discover organisations on the islands they may not have known. There are already more than 270 social organisations from Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera on the list.

How to vote, step by step

1. Go to teixweb.com/navidad from 28 October at 10:00. You will see the list of organisations and you can search for the one you want. Each has its own profile page.

2. Sign in with Google or with an email address.

3. Choose up to 3 different organisations. Each person has up to three votes and one vote per organisation, so you cannot vote twice for the same one. Before deciding, read each profile. It is the best way to make sure your vote goes to an organisation you really know or that convinces you.

4. If an organisation you know is missing, propose it. Proposals are open until 13 December on the proposals page. Associations, foundations and NGOs based in, or mainly active in, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza or Formentera can take part, provided they are registered and have a social, educational, cultural, health, environmental, animal-protection or rights-defence purpose. The full requirements are in the campaign rules.

If you run an organisation: how to get more votes

These tips are for people who lead an organisation or belong to one. None of them is a trick: they are ways to let the people who already know you realise they can vote for you.

Share your profile. Each organisation has a profile page with a kit for spreading the word, including images and a poster with a QR code. Send the link to members, volunteers, families, people you support who want to help, donors and suppliers. A message that explains in one sentence what you would do with a better website, for example attract more volunteers or explain your services better, works better than a plain “vote for us”.

Put the QR poster where people are. At the door of your premises, at reception, in the waiting room, at your activities and at the events you organise. Whoever scans it lands directly on your profile, with nothing to search for.

Use WhatsApp in moderation. One short message with the direct link and the date voting closes, in your volunteer and family groups. There is no need to insist every day: announcing it at the start, reminding people once mid-campaign and once near the end is enough.

Ask each person to vote for two others as well. Since everyone has up to three votes, the easiest request to accept is to ask for one vote for you and encourage people to give the other two to organisations they know. It is fairer, it creates a better atmosphere between organisations and people appreciate it.

Tell people how it is going. If you post on social media or write a newsletter, tell the story of the campaign in your own voice. And if you are in touch with a local news outlet, the campaign press room gathers the information in one place. Remember that from 21 December the vote counts are hidden, so the useful thing is to act early.

Ask people who know your work for their vote. It is the only thing that makes it meaningful that the public does the choosing.

What a social organisation's website needs to really help

Whether you win or not, these are the things that, in our experience, make an organisation's website serve its mission rather than being just a business card.

Volunteering. A page of its own that explains what tasks there are, how much time is needed, who can sign up and how, with a short form. People who want to help usually decide in a moment; if they have to hunt for someone to write to, they leave.

Clear ways to donate. What options there are to contribute (bank transfer, Bizum, becoming a member), what the money is used for and, if you issue donation certificates, how to request one. The fewer questions a person has to ask, the easier it is to take the step.

Up-to-date news. A news or events section that stays alive, even with few entries. A website whose latest news is two years old suggests the organisation has stopped, even if that is not true.

Accessibility. Enough contrast, readable type, keyboard navigation, descriptions on images and plain text. Many organisations support people with disabilities or older people, and their website should match that level of care.

Editable by the team itself. The most common cause of abandoned websites is depending on an outsider to change an opening time or publish an event. A simple content manager that anyone on the team can use to update content keeps the site from falling behind. If you want to see how we work, we explain it on our web design page.

Calendar

Voting and proposals for new organisations open on 28 October 2026 at 10:00. Proposals close on 13 December. On 21 December the vote counts are hidden, and voting ends on 24 December at 23:59.

The 10 chosen organisations are announced on 25 December at 10:00. The websites will be delivered in March 2027.

Where to follow it

Everything is at teixweb.com/navidad, and the full conditions are in the rules. We share how it is going on Instagram, at @teixwebstudio. If you know an organisation that looks after others, show them the campaign: they may not know it exists.
